Mission & Vision
Welcome to Math Lounge Zürich. A private circle for young thinkers
At Math Lounge, a small number of carefully selected students meet weekly in the heart of Zürich to experience mathematics as it was meant to be — elegant, challenging, and alive.
Led personally by Prof. Dr. Adam Kurpisz, Math Lounge is not a tutoring service but a salon for intellectual growth. Membership is limited, the groups are intimate, and the atmosphere is one of curiosity and mastery.
Prof. Dr. Adam Kurpisz
Professor of Mathematics, affiliated with Bern Business School and ETH Zürich, with academic roots at the Sorbonne and the Max Planck Institute. I combine the rigor of world-class research with a passion for mentoring students of all ages.
Over the years I have guided children, teenagers, and university students through both private mentoring and formal programs such as the MD Fellowship. Many of my students have gone on to remarkable successes of their own — in school, in academic competitions, and in international research projects.
I am also a graduate of prestigious leadership programs, including the Leadership Academy for Poland, and I have been involved in award-winning innovation initiatives in Switzerland and abroad. As a father of two, I understand the challenges parents face and the importance of building confidence and curiosity early in life.
At Math Lounge Zürich, I bring this experience into a warm, exclusive setting — inspiring young thinkers to explore mathematics with confidence, creativity, and joy.
Why Math Lounge
Most children encounter mathematics as a sequence of rules and procedures — a taller stack of exercises each year, but little sense of meaning. Many tutoring centers respond with short, intensive cramming before the Gymi exam: useful for a moment, fragile in the long run.
Math Lounge takes a different path. We build a broad, resilient foundation — a pyramid of understanding rather than a narrow tower that topples under pressure. Our members learn to think creatively and rigorously, to recognise elegant patterns, and to experience mathematics as something exciting and powerful. They are treated with respect: not drilled as pupils, but mentored as young minds with genuine potential.
Preparation for Gymnasium follows naturally from this approach. Success in the entrance exam is a consequence of strong thinking habits, not the sole objective. With sustained guidance over time, students develop clarity, confidence, and the resilience to meet future academic challenges.
The atmosphere is unlike school, and unlike tutoring: a private lounge — small, selective, and intensely focused — where each member belongs to a circle of curiosity and ambition.
